SICHUAN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES UNIVERSITY
Located in Chongqinq, the world largest city with nearly 35 million inhabitants, Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) is one of China’s top public universities: it was awarded the 6th spot for social sciences in the 2012 official ranking published by the Chinese Ministry of Education (covering 3000+ universities).
SISU is the first and only Chinese university to become a full member of the prestigious Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie. One of China’s foremost player on the international stage, it runs three Confucius Institute worldwide and is home to public foreign organisations such as Alliance Française, Cervantes Institute, Goethe Institute, Russian Institute… Its President has been knighted by the French Prime-minister (Palmes académiques) and several of its Vice-presidents are Chevening Scholars of the British government.
Employment rate of its students six month after graduation is near 100%.
COLLEGE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
The college of International Education was established in July 2005 with a purpose of building a communicative and cooperative platform for Sino-foreign education and scientific institutions of various kinds.
The college owns the only comprehensive education service institution in southwestern China, providing a package of services such as Foreign Languages Training, Overseas Tests/Analogue Tests, Educational Consulting Service, International Diplomas and Overseas Employment. Since 2005, the number of enrolled students has reached 3,000.
OVERVIEW
In the field of fashion and luxury, excellence is not only expected from the goods being purchased, but also from every level of the direction, management and retailing staff. In this booming field, China faces an immense shortage of qualified managers, especially trained and educated in fashion and luxury field.
In the wake of Premier Li Keqiang call for a development of professional education in China, Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) has asked its College of International Education to create a professional and international programmes dedicated to fashion and luxury management.
Upon their completion of a three year degree, exclusively assessed in English, students will receive the Chinese national degree of zhuanke.
They are then encouraged to pursue their studies within the American Business School of Paris or London College of Contemporary Arts, SISU’s official partners. The international agreements linking SISU to those universities allows not only for mutual credit recognition and automatic acceptance of the Prestige students,* but also for a special and unique reduction on their tuitions fees.** The degree they received is certified and recognised by both French/British and Chinese governments.
SISU is also currently in the final stage of its negotiations Italian partners, broadening the horizon of the Prestige Program.
ACADEMIC EDUCATION
The Prestige Programme has assembled a team of 16 experienced university professors. They equip the students wight core knowledge of economy, marketing, management, law, art & design and communication. All these classes, unique in South-West China, have been especially created to adapted to the field of fashion and luxury.
Courses are exclusively assessed in English. From the second year onward of the Prestige Program, they are 100% English taught.
Independent thinking and originality is encouraged during the all study process.
Teamwork and group thinking are promoted.
INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
50% of the professors are foreigners, regrouping six nationalities.
Most of the Chinese academic staff has an intensive international experience.
The whole Prestige Program, taught in SISU’s Prestigious College of International Education, encourages inter-cultural communication.
Introduction to French is 100% covered by Alliance Française, the world leader in teaching French Language and Culture. This public institution has designed for our students a special programme with a concentration on fashion & luxury.
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION
Professional education must be understood as the combination of both academic and practical teaching. Completing the academic staff, the Prestige Programme has therefore assembled a team of leaders of the fashion and luxury business world
(including actual or former Chinese CEO of Hermes, Gucci, Burberry, Bottega…) who regularly provide lectures and seminars to the students.
Visits of fashion and luxury companies are organised.
Over the three year of their education in SISU, each student shall take no less than 800h of internship. The Prestige Program, through its professional network, guaranty placement for each of its student.
Our Partner, the Starlight Group (shopping mall of nearly 200 luxury shops), provides direct insights of the market needs and ongoing advising on the necessary skills.
